Jammin'

Jammin' is a musical comedy show on BBC Radio 2 in the United Kingdom. It is presented by Rowland Rivron, who also plays drums. In addition to Rowland, there are two regulars in the band, and two guests - usually one comedian and one musician. The two regulars are usually Dave Catlin-Birch and Steve Brown. When Dave Catlin-Birch is on tour, he is usually replaced by Honka James Roby. Brown replaced original regular Richard Vranch in 2003.

Thus the show usually follows the format:

  • Introduction Song in which the regulars and guests are introduced.
  • Short interview with the guests, usually playing a snippet from one of their hits or a performance of the first song they ever wrote. This usually turns into an innuendo, and the performance is stopped by Rivron just before it becomes too explicit.
  • Feature from one of the regulars (ABBA/Beatles backwards / "Two Songs for the Price of One" / "Beatles per Minute").
  • Bass Line: the bassist plays a bass line, and the other member of the band (except Rivron) try to guess from which song it comes.
  • Jammin

Jammin was an original reality television series created by Sí TV that documents the attempts of six Latino bands to win a $10,000 cash prize and a Gibson sponsorship. Out of hundreds of bands that submitted entries, only the top fifteen bands, selected by online polling, advanced to the next round. A panel of expert judges then chose six semi-finalists based on their musical potential. The semi-finalists were flown to Los Angeles, where they received guidance from a series of mentors and given the chance to play live for the judges. Three finalists had the opportunity make their own music video and, finally, competed in a battle of the bands on-stage.

    Semi-finalists

The six semi-finalist bands, selected from the initial fifteen competitors by judges, were:

  • Low Luster League
  • Cuna De Lobos
  • Velorio
  • Spellbound Escape
  • Mystery Hangup
  • Zigmat
  • Low Luster League, Cuna de Lobos and Velorio went on to become finalists, with Low Luster League ultimately winning the competition.

    KXJM

KXJM (107.5 FM, "JAM'N 107.5") is a commercial broadcast radio station located in the Portland, Oregon area and broadcasts at 107.5 FM. The transmitter is located in Portland's west hills; their studios are in Tigard, Oregon, and the license location is in Banks, Oregon. They are the second station in Portland to use the call letters, which they acquired from its former home at 95.5, which is now KBFF. It is currently under ownership of iHeartMedia, Inc..

    Station history

    1990s

This station debuted on March 8, 1991 as KDBX broadcasting the K-Love Christian music format. In 1992, it became "Spirit FM 107.5" with the stated goal of playing Christian hit music 24/7, a first for the Portland market.

On October 1, 1996, the station changed ownership to American Radio Systems, which would later be bought out by Infinity Broadcasting, and then, CBS Radio. The Christian format would be moved to AM 800, while 107.5 would debut a new format. After stunting with alternative rock music for 24 hours as "107.5 The End", the station flipped to Modern AC and call letters to KBBT - The Beat at 107 dot 5, which was formerly on AM 970 (now KUFO). The station specialized in newer music, but by 1999, the station mixed in 1980's hits as well. On June 9, 2000, most of the on-air staff was fired, with exception of Cort Webber (of Cort and Fatboy fame) and Troy Daniels, and the station flipped to Mix 107.5 with a full blown '80s hits format and the KVMX call letters. In 2006, it shifted to a "Rock Hits" format focusing mostly on rock music from the 1980s, and picked up Bob Rivers' syndicated morning show, which was based out of Seattle's KZOK-FM.
